Coffee & Cardigans

A peer consult group for wholehearted therapists.

If you’re an intern in a graduate level counseling or social work program, or a pre-licensed therapist, this is for you! I’ve created a safe, welcoming space to explore some of the challenging aspects of being in this field. Come as you are and fill your own cup.

I have experience working in residential, PHP, IOP, and private practice settings. I’ve provided clinical supervision for graduate interns as well as mentorship and leadership for pre-licensed therapists for the last four years. I was honored for my supervision work in the field with the 2020 Outstanding Field Supervisor Award by the Tennessee Association for Counselor Education and Supervision.

kind words

“Rose’s mentorship has helped me become a more confident therapist. Rose is a boundaries queen, and I have learned so much from her about implementing kind, firm boundaries with clients, colleagues, and supervisors.”

"Rose compassionately walked alongside me as I was encountering new and challenging things in the clinical setting, both with clients and navigating professional relationships. “

“Rose was encouraging when I didn’t feel I had what it took to make it in this field. She met me exactly where I was each day, and made me feel like I had the space to learn, grow, and make mistakes.”

“Rose fiercely advocated for me, my own self-care, and acknowledgements of my own traumas within this work, while remaining focused on what would be best for the clients I was serving.“

"Rose’s style of supervision in being approachable, boundaried, highly skilled, and knowledgeable was just what I needed in walking this often imposter syndromed, anxiety provoking, and “my own stuff evoking” path.”

“Rose is by far one of the most ethically minded therapists I have ever worked with, and I cannot overstate the impact of watching someone gatekeep this profession in such a clear and consistent way.”

1-hour CEU presented at the 2021 TLPCA summit

As clinicians, we know that treating co-occurring substance abuse, mental health issues, and trauma is a complex process. Acceptance and commitment therapy offers a fresh, evidence-based approach to substance use recovery. ACT helps people to build psychological flexibility, decrease experiential avoidance, improve self-identity, and commit to value-driven behavioral change. In this workshop, clinicians will learn how to integrate this process-based approach to help their clients understand the roots of their addiction and maintain lasting sobriety.
