 FAQs

  • As an educated and experienced clinical mental health counselor, I have the knowledge, work experience, and licensure necessary to help with a wide variety of issues. However, a few things that I’m particularly skilled at helping people with are:

    +perfectionism, self-esteem, and self-criticism

    +anxiety and panic attacks

    +complex trauma/PTSD

    +ethical non-monogamy & polyamory

    +religious trauma and purity culture

If you have a specific situation in mind, please use the consult form to let me know what’s going on. If we feel your specific needs would be better met by another counselor, I can provide you with a referral.

  • Great question! There’s a lot of alphabet soup going on within the counseling world.

LPC-MHSP: I am fully and independently licensed in the state of Tennessee to diagnose and treat a full continuum of mental health disorders. In order to obtain this licensure, I fulfilled the following requirements: completing a 61 credit hour Masters degree in Clinical Counseling (including 700 clinical internship hours), passing 3 licensure exams, clocking 4000+ hours of post-grad experience, and participating in 150 supervision hours consulting with other licensed therapists.

NCC: I am a board-certified counselor through the National Board for Certified Counselors, meaning that I have met national standards for the practice of counseling.

EMDR trained: I’ve completed a 40 hour basic EMDR training as well as 10 consultation hours. I’m currently completing my full EMDR certification and participating in ongoing consultation.

  • Due to licensing restrictions, I am not able to work with anyone outside of Tennessee at this time.

  • Once we’ve set up a time, I’ll give you a call and chat with you for about 20 minutes. I usually ask you to share a little bit about yourself (where you live, what you do for work, a little about your relationships/family, etc) and a little bit about what you’re hoping to work on in therapy. I’ll share with you my approach to counseling and answer any questions you have about my style. I’m pretty interactive and will likely ask you some questions to clarify what you’re looking for. If we feel like it’s a good fit, I’ll get you set up with the next steps and schedule you for a session!

Consult calls are not therapy, so I won’t provide any therapeutic advice while we’re talking.

  • No, I only offer video telehealth sessions. However, the good news is that by offering telehealth sessions, I can work with anyone who lives in the state of Tennessee :)

  • I see clients on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays between 9am CST - 4pm CST.

  • I am not a medical provider or a psychologist, which means that I am not able to prescribe medications or complete most psych testing. I am more than happy to collaborate with my clients on a referral for a prescribing provider or to consult on psych testing.

  • No, I’m a secular therapist. I welcome people from all spiritual and religious backgrounds, and spirituality often comes up in session. However, I do not counsel from any particular religious perspective, as I believe in putting your values and beliefs at the forefront of your therapy sessions.

  • I’d invite you to tell me what’s up! Be open and honest with me about what’s not working for you. If we can pinpoint the issue and continue working together, great! If not, I’m happy to give you a referral for another therapist with no hard feelings.

  • I wish I could give you a definitive answer! Everyone’s circumstances are unique, and the length of our sessions will honestly just depend. Sometimes I see clients for just a few months; other times I see them for years. I’m transparent & collaborative with my clients though, and always open to talking about where you’re at in the therapy process and whether it’s meeting your needs.

I’d love to hear from you.
